A Change of Heart

We enter this world with a pure heart; let us leave with the same. ~c. bruedigam Recently I received a book of “Words to Love By,” from the quotes of Mother Teresa and when I opened it randomly, it was to how prayer changes the heart : “Change your hearts . . . Unless we change our hearts we are not converted. Changing places is not the answer. Changing occupations is not the answer. The answer is to change our hearts. And how do we change? By praying.” She was right, prayer has brought about huge change for me, especially in conjunction with reading the Bible. She hit my situation right on the head: not needing to move or keep changing what I do, it is inside that I had to change. For years I have sought and sought, tried this and tried that, from everything in my personal life and beliefs to hobbies and work. I would think, ok that didn’t work, so I will change to this , but nothing worked, ever; nothing. I was chasing my tail, spinning my wheels, stuc

Let My Wild Heart Soar

Heavenly Father and Creator, let me hear the ancients of the canyons and  Watch in awe as the eagle soars, Let me hear the music of the ages, and the ocean as it roars. Let me gaze upon the stars in heaven and  Wonder of their creation in the darkness of the night; Let me resound in the beauty that is all of nature. Let your teachings guide me as I stumble through this thing called life. Let the amazement of all that is your glory, light my very soul on fire. Let my free spirit soar on the winds with the raven and Let my wild wolf-heart remain steadfast on the path to enlightenment. Let me bow in respect to Buddha as we parallel, and Let my voice sing songs of praises toward your creation and all that it entails. O heavenly Father, let me, in my wild heart, soar. copyright Cheryl Brudigam 2018 Cheryl Yale-Bruedigam, CYI-250 Sharing with YOU for a happier, Spirit-filled life Books, videos, inspiration, divine guidance. The Process of Healing - From the Spirit to the Body

One thing I have realized recently is how the spiritual healing process works, at least for me. The spirit gets uplifted, and when the spirit gets uplifted, the mind gets uplifted and when the mind gets uplifted, the body has to follow suit. This is spiritual healing. But we have to allow the Holy Spirit to uplift us, and as I have seen (and written about previously) in research, the root of the word believe, is to allow . When all blocks to our belief are removed, then we can allow the healing. So before we can receive any healing, we have to remove the blocks. We do this by asking in prayer for the blocks to be revealed and removed, and then once they are revealed we see them clearly for what they are and we no longer allow them to remain in our “spiritual sight” so to speak. We can then allow our self to be uplifted and the healing process begins; in the spirit, in the mind, and finally, in the body. It may take continual work, daily or even hourly. It is not somet

Finding God in the Ordinary

Currently, I am reading Margaret Guenther’s, “The Practice of Prayer,” but it is so much more. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking spiritual guidance and growth, as well as a big dose of clarity. Today I read some more of Margaret Guenther and it really seems like every time I read a further chapter, it is an answer to the questions I am having. This was one on finding the Spirit (God) in the ordinary. Home life, family, drudgery; not feeling stuck but knowing rather that it is where you are called . She has such a way of putting the profound into simplicity. Also she talked on professions, whether you are an artist or a bus driver, finding the Spirit (God) within it. I suspected it is not what I do but my motives and how I do it and whether I am good in all things I do, even if it’s just the dishes. She makes the  comparison to the monk’s cell which I have already made numerous times on my own (I talk about this in the " New Age of Christ ") to our dail

January Tidings

Maybe January has a beauty unseen, unheard, unknown. Reclusive, hushed, as it crouches ‘neath the hardness of winter. Maybe January needs a break too after the Christmas holidays. Wiped out, exhausted and weary, it crawls to a quiet corner to subside. Merriment has joined the Easter bunny in a far-off place, While small birds and animals struggle to survive the falling snow. I will sit with January, as with an old friend, Knowing that peace, revival, balmy breezes and sunshine Are but a twinkle away, as is another January day. copyright Cheryl Bruedigam 2018 Cheryl Yale-Bruedigam, CYI-250 Empowering YOU for a happier,soul-filled life Books, videos, inspiration, divine guidance. Find a Morning Spot

Nothing starts the day off better than a quiet morning spot of your own. A place to waken with the peace of the day, preferably as nature awakens and unfolds. The rising sun, the tweet of the birds or the caw of a crow, trees gently glistening in the morning mist or sun and a view if possible of all the beauty to behold, all gently nudge the spirit within toward a glorious day. A place of time for brief early contemplation over that first cup of coffee or tea can be the most uplifting experience of the day. If you live in an environment that does not offer the nature of the morning, you can create your own inviting environment with plants, indoor table-top waterfalls, candles or incense and a cozy nook or even at the kitchen table before the rest of the household wakes. Some of my best memories are of cold winter mornings spent in our 1920s rural home in Missouri . I would rise before my husband and children to literally go into the kitchen to light my great-grandmother

Mastering the Little Things Lays the Foundation for the Big Things

Normally I do not do New Year’s resolution because inevitably I end up blowing them off then consequently perceiving them as failures or things I did not accomplish. This year though I would not consider them resolutions, I do have a few things I want to work on and improve. Though they might be considered “little” things, they are indeed the foundation for being a positive, well balanced person striving to be in the light. Waking to joy instead of irritability, being pleasant to those around me, offering a smile, adding a dash of discipline such as exercising patience, and finding and extending love and kindness even if I am not feeling it. These are some of the little things that add up to the big things. How can we expect to achieve what we perceive as the bigger things, if we cannot master the simple, smaller things, especially those involving the will and self-control, giving and loving?
