Who we are is like the ingredients of a cake. Think about
it, if you were baking a cake and you did not get the ingredients right, no
matter how pretty you ice it on the outside, if it does not taste right on the
inside, it is not going to work.
Our insides are just like those ingredients in the cake. If
we mix in the wrong amount and negative things, that is what we will get, what
we will be, who we will become, no matter how well we dress on the outside or
how pretty we are born. Imagine if you were making a cake and you put in
depressing thoughts, anger, negative feelings, hurt, despair, fear. Can you
imagine how this cake would taste? Instead consider positive ingredients and
the difference it would make.
We have to add all good ingredients in the right amount
(which in this case means balance). Even the tiniest pinch of too much salt can
ruin the whole thing. Without flour, it cannot bind together. Without sugar, it
is not sweet. Without baking powder or soda, it will not rise. Without egg or
milk, it will not moisten and change form. Without flavoring, it will be bland.
We have to add the appropriate doses of faith, love, peace, joy, kindness,
goodness, gentleness, meekness and temperance, most of these are the fruit of
the Spirit. We are given this recipe in Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the
Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
If we follow this mix, we can be assured that we are using the right ingredients to becoming a healthy, happy and whole individual.
Follow the light of your heart!
Many blessings.
