The power of prayer is unmistakable and the contribution of
women worldwide to our spiritual health, growth, and needs, is near
overwhelming and is something that we may indeed take for granted as women have
put forth their prayers throughout history as well as today.
Every day, all over the world, women are in prayer.
We may all have different beliefs but every day, all over
the world in churches, synagogue, temples, convents, ashrams, homes, even in
the wilderness and remote areas, women are in prayer. Though in many
traditional belief systems, women were placed in subjection to men, women have
also been the backbone of spiritual pleas, blessings and teachings within the
family, the home, the community, the churches or places of worship, and
schools.
Women are highly spiritual and devout beings. This is not to
say that men are not or that women are more so; it is rather to say that we, as
women, need to realize and understand this fact about ourselves and to give it
the full appreciation and attention that it deserves. We are spiritually aware
and in sync in our natural state (given that we have not been abused or due to
negative acculturation). We have been blessed by the Spirit to bring forth
life, we are in tune with the natural cycles of nature, and we are gifted with
the ability to love and nurture others as we would our own child. Is it no wonder that these attributes would
extend to God and to spiritual practice?
Through our prayers we are one.
Spiritual attunement is our nature and it is through this
nature that we each find our own path to prayer, to spiritual unity, and to the
communion of Spirit. We must honor and respect one another as the powerful
prayer vessels that we were made to be, regardless of the path we each might
choose or into which we are born. It is our passion and our intense caring for
others which fuels the flame of life itself as we speak in earnest to the
Spirit we address and through this communion, expressing love, caring and
compassion for all humankind. Through the feminine, we are one. Through our
prayers we are one.
May the worldly blessings of women be heard. There can never
be enough prayer. We need more. We need you. We need your prayers. The world
needs your prayers. Recognize and join your sisters in prayer.
