Releasing Expectations

Psalm 62:5 My soul wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.

It is not until the seeker realizes that God is in complete control of all aspects of our lives and turns the self-perceived control over, that one can finally be freed of the burdens held within with regard to self-esteem, perceived failures, anxiety and unfulfilled desires. Once this is done, then we can succeed and we will be fulfilled. Otherwise, we simply continue to seek and never achieve.

There is so much pressure on us in society to perform, to succeed, to fit in, and on and on. These are expectations that come from the ego (self) or from society and are not valid. We place pressure upon our self and we allow others to place pressure upon us. Rarely is it truly something heartfelt.

And yes, once a person has given their life to the spiritual, God is in charge and therefore sometimes we wait. We may be waiting on God’s Divine timing or He may be waiting on us to get our act together. Eliminating the self-expectations or the expectations of others that are placed upon us completely frees us to follow the will of God for our lives and that is usually something very different from our own previously held expectations or those of others. It requires us to put our full faith in God and His plan for us. It also allows us to feel free to comfortably wait upon God without feeling guilt, failure, impatience or such negative feelings that come with trying to meet these invalid expectations.

Once this is understood, the seeker begins to know and understand the patience and peace involved in waiting on God. It is part of the joy of the journey; it is the development of three of the spiritual fruits: peace, faith and long-suffering (patience) and in doing so, strengthens our relationship with the Creator. Allow your soul to wait on God and put all your expectations in Him for the course of each day, and of your life, because you were created by the Divine and given a Divine purpose. It is only by placing faith in this and in God, that you will find it.

Follow the light of your heart!

Many blessings.

Bible Will Teach You How to Know Your Enemy; Know Your Self

When we study the Word, and we are given the ears to hear, and the ability to discern, we can then be confident of the truth from wherever it comes. Last night in re-watching the movie, “Birth of the Dragon,” I was able to understand so much more due to my Bible studies. From the movie, “Lesson number one, know your enemy. Lesson number two, know your self. With these two principles, you need never fear a thousand battles.” This was so heavy and so profound and I got it on such a deep spiritual level regarding all facets of life (not just regarding two men in physical combat). The Bible has shown me how to know my enemy and to know my self and therefore not fear. When we truly understand that we are an eternal child of God, then we know our self . When we understand that anyone or thing (including our own thoughts) that is not in the light of God is of the darkness (even those lost in the gray), then we know our enemy.  Jesus said in Mathew 12:30, “He t...

He Will Make My Feet Like Deer's Feet

There is a tree out my window with branches that look like a stag. I have been contemplating it for years. Sometimes I forget about it, others I see it. The tree stag has been jumping out at me recently again.  I looked it up and found a couple quotes on websites, “the stag came to symbolize God’s power, nobility, freedom and purity.” In Scottish lore, it symbolizes regeneration because of the antlers. “In the Christian imagination, the deer is a symbol of piety, devotion and of God taking care of his children: men.” “In it's simplest form, deer symbolize the joys of loving Christ intimately (Song of Songs 2:7). In biblical symbology, deer represent piety, devotion, and safety in God's care. They are a symbol of thirst and longing for the Lord. ... Deer feet are an analogy for our spiritual feet.”  There were also a couple saints associated with the stag as divine encounters. It basically represents something good in every culture, but I went with the Scottish...
