Instructions for a Fearful Time

There are many continuous upsetting and disturbing news pieces on the Coronavirus and it is easy for fears to take complete control of our minds. Reading the Bible for strength and guidance in all this is the best thing we can absorb, not the news.

Beginning with the verse to which I was led, Luke 6:46, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (NIV) I then asked myself what did He say to do, and went on from there all through Matthew and made a list of pertinent and helpful instructions in the current situation, His instructions.

We have already been given the instruction, yet we forget and don’t do it, and then plead for help although the help is right there in front of us.  If we actually do it rather than just read it, it works, and all negativity disappears. Of course, prayers and pleading do help, because when answered, then we are led back to the words of instruction. These are His instructions; this is what He wants us to do and to remember:

Be not afraid, Mat 14:27
Have faith, Mat 21:21
Fear not, Mat 10:31
Be of good comfort, Mat 9:22
Don’t worry about tomorrow, Mat 6:34
Don’t worry about your life, 6:25
Be of good cheer, Mat 9:22
I will give you rest, Mat 11:28
Don’t doubt, Mat, 14:31
Be as little children, Mat 18:3
Love the Lord thy God with heart, soul and mind, Mat 22:37
I am always with you, Mat 28:20

Remember and practice these instructions and you will have no difficulty weathering the storm.

Words Across Time

Words linger. Whether it is audible, something spoken to us or something we read, words linger in our minds and stick like glue. Words are one of the few things that set us apart from all the other animals and living things, we can speak. Is it any wonder that the memory of a mother’s soft coo can so strongly calm and send us to the kitchen for a cup of coco or that the memory of a scolding can set us trembling? Words are positive, negative or neutral; neutral words have little effect but words of a positive or negative nature can lift up and inspire or tear down and destroy. In a sense, they are our strongest power and thus the power of words move with us across time. St. Catherine Christine de Pisan Whether I am reading the Bible or an ancient manuscript crafted out a thousand or more years ago by isolated monks on some remote island or a contemporary twentieth century author who has now passed, it never ceases to amaze me that I get to hear their thoughts acr...

Journal - October 16, 2015

Journal October 16, 2015 Cool rainy, weather, journaling, Anais Nin, Hawaii Five-0 and Chili Dogs. My life at present is a giant blinking cursor on a blank page because I am in-between projects. This happens every few years, probably to most writers. But I have been keeping journals dating back to 1978 when I first began. That’s a lot of journals. My son seems to think I should publish them, but why on earth anyone would want to read them, I cannot imagine. I feel like Anais Nin, keeping them safely tucked away in a vault (or in my case a storage unit, at least those that are pre-computer years). Anyway, since journaling is what I do the most (I won’t say best), I will keep a journal here at my blog for no reason at all other than it occupies me and helps me to think and heal, grow, create and prattle on. One of my unfinished projects that I can’t seem to get back on (as I am still waiting on that trip to London ) is an historical/fantasy/fiction novel titled Ravenna ...
