Easter: Faith and Comfort for Renewal

Every Easter is hopeful. Every Easter provides us with a new, refreshed outlook and rejuvenation as we celebrate the Resurrection, however this Easter seems even more important than ever given the world situation with the virus. We need hope, strength and regeneration more than ever and most of all, we need the comfort of our faith. It is almost ironic that this is happening during Holy Week, perhaps a strong reminder that indeed we need to return to the comfort of our faith and when better than at Easter?

Many are in dire straits, many are ill, many have suffered loss and many fear it. Most all people, all over the world, are feeling and experiencing these same things, however there is one difference, and that is whether or not there is faith because faith alleviates fear, lifts us up, helps us to heal and offers comfort and hope through Christ. Without this faith, fear and panic run rampant and we focus only on our suffering.

Humanity is suffering, the world is suffering. But let us remember, “For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:5

As we celebrate this Easter Sunday, amid the suffering, may we all feel the absolute consolation which will comfort us and strengthen our faith.

Easter serves this year to instill the renewal that we will experience as individuals within our hearts and through humanity as a whole. We will resurrect, we will rise up and we will do so with more love and compassion than ever before. We will move forward with a new beat in our hearts because as we have suffered, we are also comforted.

Prayers for heartfelt Easter blessings.

Words Across Time

Words linger. Whether it is audible, something spoken to us or something we read, words linger in our minds and stick like glue. Words are one of the few things that set us apart from all the other animals and living things, we can speak. Is it any wonder that the memory of a mother’s soft coo can so strongly calm and send us to the kitchen for a cup of coco or that the memory of a scolding can set us trembling? Words are positive, negative or neutral; neutral words have little effect but words of a positive or negative nature can lift up and inspire or tear down and destroy. In a sense, they are our strongest power and thus the power of words move with us across time. St. Catherine Christine de Pisan Whether I am reading the Bible or an ancient manuscript crafted out a thousand or more years ago by isolated monks on some remote island or a contemporary twentieth century author who has now passed, it never ceases to amaze me that I get to hear their thoughts acr...

Journal - October 16, 2015

Journal October 16, 2015 Cool rainy, weather, journaling, Anais Nin, Hawaii Five-0 and Chili Dogs. My life at present is a giant blinking cursor on a blank page because I am in-between projects. This happens every few years, probably to most writers. But I have been keeping journals dating back to 1978 when I first began. That’s a lot of journals. My son seems to think I should publish them, but why on earth anyone would want to read them, I cannot imagine. I feel like Anais Nin, keeping them safely tucked away in a vault (or in my case a storage unit, at least those that are pre-computer years). Anyway, since journaling is what I do the most (I won’t say best), I will keep a journal here at my blog for no reason at all other than it occupies me and helps me to think and heal, grow, create and prattle on. One of my unfinished projects that I can’t seem to get back on (as I am still waiting on that trip to London ) is an historical/fantasy/fiction novel titled Ravenna ...
