Let’s talk about motivation, motivation in the Spirit and in
the mind. This is one area where we can easily fall short if we do not stay on
top of it.
It is in the parable in which Jesus spoke about the seeds
falling on various types of soil. Motivation would be in Mark 4:16-17 (MSG), “And
some are like the seed that lands in the gravel. When they first hear the Word,
they respond with great enthusiasm. But there is such shallow soil of character
that when the emotions wear off and some difficulty arrives, there is nothing
to show for it.” Quickly, initially motivated but then losing that motivation
after a while. We want to be the fertile soil in which the seed falls, Mark
4:20, “But the seed planted in the good earth represents those who hear the
Word, embrace it, and produce a harvest beyond their wildest dreams.”
How to Stay Motivated
It is the new life that helps to motivate us to become the
fertile rather than the rocky soil. Understanding that we are given a new lease
in all things, we can freely let go of any bondage that has held us back. We
have reason to look forward and because of this, we can more confidently
proceed with motivation and continue to allow and develop that motivation. As
we begin to see the changes within our self and in a life now dedicated to the
Spirit, and we see our own new potential rising, this in turn also provides the
further motivation we need.
Inevitably there will be days that remaining motivated will
be difficult and it is during these times that we are encouraged to ask for
continued motivation and in doing so, with belief, receive. Whenever I feel low
or short on motivation or enthusiasm, I simply ask and it is always renewed and
I see the results, the renewal and feel the flow return. You too can do and
receive this but staying aware of feelings is key as is staying in alignment
and communion. You will find your own personal ways of staying in spiritual
motivation as well because we each have our own unique relationship and guidance
from the Holy Spirit.
However you receive your spiritual motivation, commit to it
just as you have committed to God and it will always be supplied to you as long
as you remain aware, open, receptive and willing.
God bless and may your day be filled with the love and energy of the Holy Spirit.
