Staying Motivated in the Spirit

Let’s talk about motivation, motivation in the Spirit and in the mind. This is one area where we can easily fall short if we do not stay on top of it.

It is in the parable in which Jesus spoke about the seeds falling on various types of soil. Motivation would be in Mark 4:16-17 (MSG), “And some are like the seed that lands in the gravel. When they first hear the Word, they respond with great enthusiasm. But there is such shallow soil of character that when the emotions wear off and some difficulty arrives, there is nothing to show for it.” Quickly, initially motivated but then losing that motivation after a while. We want to be the fertile soil in which the seed falls, Mark 4:20, “But the seed planted in the good earth represents those who hear the Word, embrace it, and produce a harvest beyond their wildest dreams.”

How to Stay Motivated

It is the new life that helps to motivate us to become the fertile rather than the rocky soil. Understanding that we are given a new lease in all things, we can freely let go of any bondage that has held us back. We have reason to look forward and because of this, we can more confidently proceed with motivation and continue to allow and develop that motivation. As we begin to see the changes within our self and in a life now dedicated to the Spirit, and we see our own new potential rising, this in turn also provides the further motivation we need.

Inevitably there will be days that remaining motivated will be difficult and it is during these times that we are encouraged to ask for continued motivation and in doing so, with belief, receive. Whenever I feel low or short on motivation or enthusiasm, I simply ask and it is always renewed and I see the results, the renewal and feel the flow return. You too can do and receive this but staying aware of feelings is key as is staying in alignment and communion. You will find your own personal ways of staying in spiritual motivation as well because we each have our own unique relationship and guidance from the Holy Spirit.

However you receive your spiritual motivation, commit to it just as you have committed to God and it will always be supplied to you as long as you remain aware, open, receptive and willing.

God bless and may your day be filled with the love and energy of the Holy Spirit.

Bible Will Teach You How to Know Your Enemy; Know Your Self

When we study the Word, and we are given the ears to hear, and the ability to discern, we can then be confident of the truth from wherever it comes. Last night in re-watching the movie, “Birth of the Dragon,” I was able to understand so much more due to my Bible studies. From the movie, “Lesson number one, know your enemy. Lesson number two, know your self. With these two principles, you need never fear a thousand battles.” This was so heavy and so profound and I got it on such a deep spiritual level regarding all facets of life (not just regarding two men in physical combat). The Bible has shown me how to know my enemy and to know my self and therefore not fear. When we truly understand that we are an eternal child of God, then we know our self . When we understand that anyone or thing (including our own thoughts) that is not in the light of God is of the darkness (even those lost in the gray), then we know our enemy.  Jesus said in Mathew 12:30, “He t...

He Will Make My Feet Like Deer's Feet

There is a tree out my window with branches that look like a stag. I have been contemplating it for years. Sometimes I forget about it, others I see it. The tree stag has been jumping out at me recently again.  I looked it up and found a couple quotes on websites, “the stag came to symbolize God’s power, nobility, freedom and purity.” In Scottish lore, it symbolizes regeneration because of the antlers. “In the Christian imagination, the deer is a symbol of piety, devotion and of God taking care of his children: men.” “In it's simplest form, deer symbolize the joys of loving Christ intimately (Song of Songs 2:7). In biblical symbology, deer represent piety, devotion, and safety in God's care. They are a symbol of thirst and longing for the Lord. ... Deer feet are an analogy for our spiritual feet.”  There were also a couple saints associated with the stag as divine encounters. It basically represents something good in every culture, but I went with the Scottish...
