Self-absorption leads to separation from the Spirit |
The popular phrases and beliefs like "do your own thing," "follow your dreams," are in essence the darkness leading us away from our spiritual union and divine purpose as we falsely think that we are in charge. Our "dreams" will manifest only if they are a part of the divine plan for our lives, otherwise no amount of effort is going to bring about something that is not meant to be.
It’s not like people
say, “oh you can do whatever you want, be whatever you want.” No, we need to
discover what we are meant to be and do, what is our Divine purpose, what is
God’s will for our lives. How do I know this? In addition to the writings on it
within the bible, I have my own experience on which to go and how much I
personally have messed up because of those ideas, beliefs and non-truths as
well as how the Spirit guided me away from them and towards the Word of God.
Through these self-centered beliefs, I only gave thought to
what I wanted, when I wanted it. In my life I spent decades banging on doors
that would not open for me then being resentful or depressed because I couldn’t
get in those doors causing me to continue to make bad, wrong, decisions. In the midst of a self-indulgent society with the individual and collective raging ego in full force, these do-what-you-want encouragements are lies that dangerous and detrimental to all facets of our lives because they keep us continually and perpetually self-absorbed with the ego in control.
Thinking we can be whatever we want to be or do whatever we
want to do is a self-indulgent ideal that keeps us separated from the Spirit,
from our true self and our intended purpose. We have a divine purpose and until
we stop, be still, and ask, then quietly and patiently wait without any willful
desire on our part, we will never be able to hear the truth of who we are and
what we are meant to do and we will continue to remain separated from God. Others
can think what they want; I know it and it has changed me which has in turn,
changed my life.
There is so much that I messed up because of these
philosophies; so much that kept me separated from God the entire time I was
seeking and claiming to achieve spiritual union, and I thought there was
nothing I could do, but there was, and I did it. I asked for forgiveness and
have given my life to God to have my slate wiped clean and that is His promise
to us.
After this thought, I was immediately taken to Ezk 18:21-22
in response:
21 “But if a wicked man turns from
all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is
lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the
transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because
of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live.
As Jesus said in Luke 22:42, " . . . yet not my will, but yours be done."
