Christ - The Bottom Line, A Vision for Humanity

Last night in my Bible studies, I had a very deep understanding of a concept in The Message, Romans 8:29-30 “The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.”

To me, this is the bottom line with Christ. I understood this on a very deep level, so deep that it was mind-blowing; that we see what we are supposed to be, how we are supposed to be, how humanity is supposed to be, that we see God’s intention for us.

There is so much clarity in this understanding, in that our creation in relation to Christ makes so much sense as indeed we were intended to live in His likeness. We are given an eternal example to which humanity can look to aspire. Without this example, we are merely lost and struggling in darkness, self-absorption and complete unawareness.

Holding this example within our sight gives the light and guidance needed to achieve spiritual wholeness when applied to our earthly, everyday lives. Everyday people, everyday lives, becoming as they are intended to be: vessels of the holy, living life through the Spirit in purity and love.

Words Across Time

Words linger. Whether it is audible, something spoken to us or something we read, words linger in our minds and stick like glue. Words are one of the few things that set us apart from all the other animals and living things, we can speak. Is it any wonder that the memory of a mother’s soft coo can so strongly calm and send us to the kitchen for a cup of coco or that the memory of a scolding can set us trembling? Words are positive, negative or neutral; neutral words have little effect but words of a positive or negative nature can lift up and inspire or tear down and destroy. In a sense, they are our strongest power and thus the power of words move with us across time. St. Catherine Christine de Pisan Whether I am reading the Bible or an ancient manuscript crafted out a thousand or more years ago by isolated monks on some remote island or a contemporary twentieth century author who has now passed, it never ceases to amaze me that I get to hear their thoughts acr...
